We've Been Busy...

Despite the economic crisis occurring here in the USA, we have been busy....with new installs, customizations, upcoming releases, plans for training. Here are some of the things on our agenda:

For DentaLab for QuickBooks, we are adding 1) more sales analysis corresponding to categories available for production analysis 2) doctor preferences by item 3) activity logs for marketing, issues, complaints, and other customer communications regarding lab work. Be sure to let us know if you have further suggestions.

For group training here at our offices in Pennsylvania, we have begun thinking about some dates in the spring months. Here are some possibilities: Saturday, April 25 or Monday, April 27, Saturday, May 16 or Monday, May 18. Let us know, first of all, if you are interested in having your lab participate, then how many and your best dates.

Q: What is involved in having you remotely connect into our computer from yours so that you can help us directly?

A: You need first of all to have some type of high-speed Internet service. For most, this means a broadband connection via cable, fiber optics, DSL from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). There are several good software systems for handling the remote connections. The one we have used most frequently is called LogMeIn. This requires a download and then setting up authorization codes to allow access. Also in use are Virtual Private Networks (VPN), which are more expensive and tend to be used when there is an ongoing need for remote communication.

Q: What is the best way to learn to use DentaLab for QuickBooks?

A: There are many ways to learn and the best way is to figure out how you best learn and understand new concepts. We recommend that you definitely print and read the install and startup guides as they give information such as initial logins and requirements that can not be learned by trial and error. Once you are in the system, you can go to one of the Help buttons to have the whole user manual at your disposal to get an overview, research topics, print a copy. If you have questions or need clarification, you can call on our DentaLab Support Team. In addition, from time to time, we offer group training sessions at a low cost for those who learn best by seeing the system in action and then interacting with us and other users. Individual training sessions with hands-on use of the system can also be arranged at our offices or in your lab.

If You've Been Feeling the Need for Speed

As labs grow and increase their workloads, what had previously been satisfactory computer performance can become much too slow. We would like to tell you how one lab experienced this, made a few changes and increased their speed dramatically.

We had been told by the owner of lab that as time marched on, their computer performance slowed down more and more.
